Chanel Film Poster:
The clash of glamour and reality

Poster Design

ABOUT THE PROJECT:I was asked to design the poster for Chanel, directed by Humberto Vallejo. As summarized on IMDb: “Chanel doesn't live in New York like she has led all her family to believe. A voice message puts in danger the double life she has built for her baby daughter and herself.”

CONCEPT AND PROCESS:In response to the main character’s double life, I aimed to reflect a subtle contrast between appearance and reality through the poster design.

From the diverse selection of stills, I chose to edit one featuring the main character in a motoconcho (motorcycle taxi); a moment that quietly hints at the character’s duality. To reinforce the contrast, I convinced the director to use the elegant Didot typeface to mirror the tension between the glamorous associations of the name “Chanel” against the character’s lived reality.

OUTCOME
The poster was widely used, and I was happy to adapt it further by adding numerous award logos as the short film gained recognition at various festivals.

Thank you for your trust, Humberto.
